The OWE 5k Stampede kicks off Sunday morning of Festival. You start and finish this certified 5k race with the world famous Toledo Museum of Art as your backdrop. The run/walk has grown each year in popularity with the regional running community. The 5k winds its way through the historic tree-lined streets of Toledo’s Old West End.

This is the next class of a series sponsored by the Preservation Committee of the Old West End Association. Guest speakers Dan Voegli (of Voegli Heating & Air Conditioning) and Gary Douglass (OWE neighbor representative) will be on hand to answer your questions about general maintenance and operation of your home's boiler & radiators to help you keep them operating for years to come. Many thanks to the homeowners for this opportunity. This class is free and open to neighbors who want to learn more. Street parking is available on Floyd & Parkwood. The annual holiday gathering of the Old West End Association takes place Tuesday, December 18 at 6:30 p.m. at Black Kite. Join us to catch up with old friends, make some new ones, and eat, drink, and be merry! The Association will supply the main dish and beverages, soon to open restaurant The Olive will supply some pizzas, and neighbors feel free to bring a side dish or dessert to share! Hope to see you there!

The Arts Commission’s Art in Public Places Program is partnering with Mercy Health to commission public artwork for roundabouts in the newly constructed Cherry Street Coridoor.
You are invited to hear an overview of the project, learn about the sculpture acquisition process and meet the members of the Design Review Board who will select the artist.
The OWEA meeting takes place on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the Pride Room at Collingwood Arts Center - 2413 Collingwood Blvd.
Our “Know Your Neighbor” segment will feature the owners of Olive, the Italian scratch kitchen opening in the Black Kite Building. Come hear about their plans!

The topic is Basic Wood Stripping, using a variety of methods. Neighborhood instructors will be on site to demonstrate their process using a heat gun, chemicals and steel wool. This class is free to neighbors who would like to improve their skills in removing paint and stain from wood doors, trim, etc. Tremain is located off Ashland Avenue between Collingwood & Bancroft. Please park in the Girl Scouts lot off Collingwood and enter thru the property gate. The event location will be across the cul-de-sac. If you are sensitive to chemical smells, please bring a mask.
Our next Old West End Association is a joint effort of OWENI and OWEA to host a community workshop on handling Facebook Conflict. Join us Tuesday, September 18, at 6:30 at the Scott High School Cafeteria.
We will have community-building exercises, tools, and other resources for promoting understanding in a small group workshop setting, which will be led by expert facilitators from right here in our neighborhood. Bring your questions and concerns, no matter what they are. We will work together to help build a more cohesive social media platform for the neighborhood we all know and love. Catering will be provided by the donation-based Toledo chapter of Food Not Bombs.
RAIN DATE: due to weather, the The Trade -N- Post will now be on Saturday Sep. 15th. Hours are from 10am-4pm, in the Arboretum (corner of Delaware and Robinwood). All proceeds benefit Old West End Entrepreneurship Committee and the ARJA (Arboretum).
