Historic District Design Guidelines

Guidance

The intent of these design guidelines is to provide guidance to historic building owners, architects, contractors and others who are doing work to building exteriors within the Old West End Historic District (OWEHD). They are based upon the U.S. Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation with localized guidance based on Old West End-specific characteristics.

These guidelines are the basis by which the Old West End Historic District Commission and the Toledo-Lucas County Plan Commission review projects and therefore should be looked at as a how-to manual for conceptualizing and designing exterior work on historic structures within the OWEHD.
