OWEA Board Elections Update

OWEA Board elections are coming up for the November general Association meeting on November 17th, and active members of the neighborhood are able to vote on candidates in November. 

To be considered an active member, you need to have 𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒘𝒐 (𝟐) 𝒎𝒆𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒊𝒙 𝒎𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒉𝒔 𝒑𝒓𝒊𝒐𝒓 to the election (May through October). The slate of candidates will be presented this Tuesday at the October general Association meeting. Additional active members can then be nominated for positions from the floor. The neighborhood works when there is engagement from everyone - please make your voice heard!

General meetings will be held at Glenwood Lutheran Church at 2545 Monroe Street at 7pm. Accessibility note: for members who need to use the elevator, please arrive five minutes early. The elevator is on the outside of the building to the left of the left set of doors, and it is tiny and slow.

Youth of OWE

YOWE (Youth of Old West End) Meeting

Parents of teens. Please pass on. We need your voice. Are you bored and tired and wanna see more things happening in your neighborhood for you to do safely. Want to link up with friends or meet new friends all while being safe and engaging in festivities. Need help with organizing your craft or networking with others for your future. Well join us so we can brainstorm together and try and learn how to make this happen.

Join us October 29th at 6pm at Kent Library in meeting room A for a pizza dinner engagement to talk about what it is you would like to see and do. Be our youth ambassadors. Parents this initial meeting is open to you as well we would like to hear from you all to. Join your child and do this together. After this meetings our continued meetings are open to our youth. Remember to register today. Let’s address an issue that can have you be seen and heard but most of all to get some action. Hope to see you in attendance.

Side note: Parents, if your child can’t make it because they are in sports or an after school program etc that’s ok. Come for them. Bring their ideas so we can hear them to.

Commons Park & Glenwood Park Work Day

Special Joint Effort: Hosta Transplant Project

This month features an exciting collaboration! WOWE is teaming up with Joyce Singer and the Glenwood Park Neighborhood Coalition to thin the hostas at Commons Park and transplant them to Glenwood Park, helping both green spaces flourish. This is a bigger undertaking, and we need a large group of volunteers to make it a success.

Two ways to help:

• Before the 17th: Volunteers are needed to help prepare the beds at Glenwood Park so they’re ready to receive the new plants.

• On the 17th: Volunteers are needed to divide, transport, and plant the hostas at Glenwood Park.
