STRONG-GROVE HOUSE 2406 ROBINWOOD AVE.
Built in the late 1890's, this Colonial Revival Style Home boasts carved oak double front doors that welcome you into a warm oak front entry hall. Bay windows and a third floor half circular window over the double hung windows are elements of Colonial styling. A true Colonial Revival would have been more nearly symmetrical, but variations of this type, with the counterbalanced bay windows and slightly off-center set doorway were quite common during this queen Anne-Colonial Revival transition era. The third floor smoking porch on the north side of the house often goes unnoticed so be sure you view it from the sidewalk. The current owners did much of the restoration work on the home. It was first occupied by Dr. Charles H. Strong and his wife, Mary. Its most famous resident was Agnes Reynolds Jackson, for whom the Aboretum at the corner of Robinwood and Delaware Avenues was named. Mrs Jackson was founder of the Fair Housing Center of Toledo, President of the Toledo Chapter of the League of Women Voters, Secretary of the Toledo Community Housing Resource Board, and sat on the Board of the Toledo A.C.L.U.
